The seminars and competitions are over. Today was a day of demonstrations from area fire departments. The Explorers were given the opportunity to participate in the Propane Fire station where they simulated that a large propane tank was on fire. Our Explorers participated and learned about a whole new area of fire fighting. The temperature was 90 degrees again today, so we were relieved that the day only went until 2pm.
In the evening we attend that awards ceremony. We took home the following awards:
Team Room Search - 1st Place
Wild Fire Shelter Deployment - 2nd Place (Kevin Coffey)
SCBA and Turn-Outs - 3rd Place (Kathryn Longlet)
The event was put together very well and included a special ceremony to honor the 9 Fallen Firefighters from the Charleston Furniture Store Fire.
After the awards ceremony was over, then Explorers had one last chance to socialize before everyone headed home in the morning.
